The Foxhole Perspective

Foxhole perspective

As I look out my foxhole this morning I am confused and anxious.  My battlefield has been altered and I can no longer easily identify “friend or foe”.  I scratch my head and reflect upon my training.  I recall my General Orders:

  • I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved.
  • I will obey my special orders and perform all my duties in a military manner.
  • I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, and any thing not covered in my instructions to the commander of the relief.

Our current operating environment is one of chaos.  Friends, Family, Neighbors, and co- Workers are being divided by having an opinion on current events.  Regardless if you’re left, right or neutral on an issue someone will take issue with your position.  We have been set up for failure!

I implore each and everyone of you to become educated on EVERY side of an issue before you form your opinion.  Seek understanding before being understood.  Be a good listener.  Treat others as you wish to be treated.  These statements may sound like simple rhetoric BUT we must adhere to them and instill them in our children and hold them accountable.  Accountability seems to be a lost art.

I respect and have defended every Americans right to peacefully protest and have their voice heard.  Every voice is important!  Surrounding yourself with only like-minded individuals will make you very linear and ignorant.

Be safe and stay informed.  Trust but verify.
