Cody Becker - U.S. Army

At 19, Cody was catastrophically injured at Fort Carson, Colorado, by saving a fellow soldier’s life. Before returning home to Wisconsin, he went through intensive rehab at Inglewood, Colorado. Upon his arrival, Cody had married his high school sweetheart Jackie, and they both desired to start a family together. However, due to Cody’s injuries, natural procreation was not an option for the Becker’s. They began to explore in-vitro fertilization (IVF). However, the VA program at the time would only cover Cody's IVF expenses but not Jackie’s. The costs associated with IVF for Jackie were highly costly.

PVA-WI advocated for the expansion of the VA IVF program and achieved a temporary expansion that benefitted the Becker Family. In October 2017, the Becker’s started the IVF process. In October 2018, the Becker’s were informed that their IVF treatment was successful and that they were pregnant! On July 3rd, 2019, Jackie gave birth to their healthy son, Damian Ray Becker, weighing 6 lb and 7 oz.
